I’m a stay at home mom to two wonderful kids and I love to cook.
I can’t say I’ve always loved to cook. It wasn’t until I moved out on my own, that I really had to learn. As my dad would say “The only thing you ever cooked when you lived at my house was Kraft Dinner”. That’s mostly true, although I’m pretty sure I helped out with dinner most nights.
Once I started cooking in my own kitchen, I realized how much I enjoyed it. And as luck would have it, I actually look like I know what I’m doing most of the time. I’ve always taken the time to write my recipes down, so I can look back and improve upon them as necessary. And with the idea of one day sharing them with family and friends.
I love spending time in my kitchen. But, my favourite time is when my Grandma comes to visit. Growing up I wasn’t close to my grandma. She lives on the other side of the country, so the visits were few and far between. One memory I have that stands out was on a trip we made to visit her. I woke up early in the morning and it smelled like a bakery in her house. I went downstairs and her counter was full of fresh baked everything! Bread, dinner rolls, biscuits. It was incredible. I don’t know what time she started baking at, but it must have taken her hours. Now when Gram comes to visit, we always make a few loaves of bread and spend hours reading recipes in the kitchen, talking about life.
My philosophy on food is pretty straight forward. Delicious, simple and mostly homemade. If you keep those three things in mind, you’re already ahead of the game as far as health is concerned. I also think it’s extremely important to buy local and organic, as much as you can. It’s better for your health, it’s better for the environment, and it’s pretty cool to get to know the farmers and to see where your food comes from.
I hope you enjoy my website and my recipes!
